Imposter syndrome — feeling like a fraud who doesn't belong, despite evidence of competence — is extremely common among developers (even very experienced ones). Understanding it and managing it is important for well-being and confidence.
What imposter syndrome is
IMPOSTER SYNDROME = persistently doubting your abilities and feeling like a "fraud" who
will be "found out" — despite real competence/accomplishments:
→ "everyone else knows more", "I just got lucky", "I don't really belong"
→ discounting your achievements; attributing success to luck not skill
→ it's a FEELING, not reality — and it's extremely common in tech.
Why it's so common in tech
→ Tech is VAST → no one knows everything; there's always more to learn → easy to feel behind
→ Constant exposure to others' expertise (skilled colleagues, experts online) → comparison
→ Fast-changing field → always something new you don't know yet
→ Many talented people feel this way → you're NOT alone (even senior/expert devs feel it)
