Data-driven decision-making means grounding product choices in evidence — usage data, experiments, research — rather than opinion alone. The mature version is data-informed: data sharpens judgment, but doesn't replace it. The goal is to reduce the risk of betting on a guess.
Sources of evidence
✓ QUANTITATIVE → analytics, funnels, retention, A/B tests (what is happening)
✓ QUALITATIVE → user interviews, support tickets, session recordings (why)
→ combine both: numbers tell you WHAT, conversations tell you WHY
Quant without qual tells you the funnel drops at step 3 but not — and you can't fix a why you don't understand.
