Saying no is the core discipline of product management. Strategy is choice, and every yes is implicitly a no to everything else you could build with that time. A PM who can't say no ends up with a bloated, unfocused product and a perpetually overcommitted team. The skill is saying no well — protecting focus without burning relationships.
Why no is the real job
✓ Capacity is FINITE → every yes consumes it
✓ FOCUS wins → a few things done well beat many done poorly
✓ Feature bloat = complexity, confusion, maintenance drag
✓ Saying no to good ideas protects room for the BEST ideas
