Choosing a stack is a long-term commitment you make with incomplete information, so the right move is to decide with tradeoffs, not hype. The flashiest framework on the conference circuit is rarely the one that serves the project two years in. My default bias is toward boring, proven technology unless there's a concrete reason to deviate.

A stack decision quietly shapes hiring, velocity, and operational cost for years, and reversing it later is brutally expensive. Picking technology because it's exciting rather than because it fits is one of the most common and most damaging tech-lead mistakes. Deciding deliberately, with the tradeoffs written down, is what separates an architecture choice from a fashion choice.
